Margins Use the Margins feature to change the amount of blank space at the top, bottom, right, and left edges of the paper. The default margin settings are not the same for all software. Office Features 2: Activity 1

Line Spacing Use the Line Spacing feature to change the amount of white space left between lines of text. Single spacing, one-and-a-half spacing, and double spacing are common to most software. Office Features 2: Activity 2

Font The Font is the type, or letters, in which a document is printed. Office Features 2: Activity 3

Font The size can be changed by changing the Font Size. Office Features 2: Activity 3 This is 24-point font size in Times New Roman font. This is 36-point font size in Times New Roman font. Click here

Font The font size can also be changed by using Grow Font to increase the font size or Shrink Font to decrease the font size. Office Features 2: Activity 3

Font The default color of the font is black. Use the Font Color feature to change the color. Office Features 2: Activity 3

Font TThis is 30-point font in Lucida Handwriting. TThis is 32-point font size in Comic Sans MS font. TThis is 54-point font size in Calibri font. Office Features 2: Activity 3

Hyphenation The Hyphenation feature automatically divides (hyphenates) words that would normally wrap to the next line. This evens the right margin, making the text more attractive. Office Features 2: Activity 4

Spelling & Grammar Check Use the Spelling and Grammar Check to check for misspellings and grammar errors. The Spelling Check feature compares each word in the document to words in its dictionary (or dictionaries). Office Features 2: Activity 5

Spelling & Grammar Check If a word in a document is not identical to one in its dictionary, the word is flagged by a wavy red underline. Usually the Spelling Check lists words it thinks are likely corrections (replacements). Office Features 2: Activity 5 Dr. Smith met with the students on Friday to reviiw for for their test.

Print The Print feature under the Microsoft Office Button offers three options: Print select the printer, indicate which page(s) and the number of copies to be printed, etc. Office Features 2: Activity 6

Print The Quick Print option sends the document directly to the default printer. The Print Preview option allows you to preview the document and make changes before printing it. Office Features 2: Activity 6

Horizontal Alignment Use left alignment to start text at the left margin. Office Features 2: Activities 7 & 8

Tabs Left tabs align all text evenly at the left by placing the text you key to the right of the tab setting. Left tabs are commonly used to align words. Office Features 2: Activity 9

Tabs Right tabs align all text evenly at the right by placing the text you key to the left of the tab setting. Right tabs are commonly used to align whole numbers. Office Features 2: Activity 9

Tabs Decimal tabs align all text at the decimal point or other character that you specify. If you key numbers in a column at a decimal tab, the decimal points will line up, regardless of the number of places before or after the decimal point. Office Features 2: Activity 9

Text Wrapping Break The default settings leave space after a paragraph each time the ENTER key is tapped. Office Features 2: Activity 10

Envelopes Use the Envelopes feature to format envelopes for the documents you create. This feature allows you to select the size of the envelope, enter the return address and the delivery address, and print the envelope. Office Features 2: Activity 11

Envelopes The delivery address can be keyed, inserted automatically from the letter file, or inserted from your Address Book. Electronic postage software can be used with this feature. Office Features 2: Activity 11
