PEACE Programme 2007-2013 To Reinforce Progress towards a Peaceful and Stable Society and to Promote Reconciliation Priority 1 Reconciling Communities Priority 2 Contributing to a Shared Society Theme 1 Building positive relations at the local level Theme 2 Key institutional capacities are developed for a shared society Theme 2 Acknowledging and dealing with the past Theme 1 Creating shared public spaces

4. Theme 1.1- Building Positive Relationships at a Local Level Objective: To challenge attitudes towards sectarianism and racism and to support conflict resolution and mediation at the local community level

Donegal PEACE III Action Plan Shared Vision: “ Donegal a county where racism and sectarianism no longer exist and where all feel equally valued and confident that they belong ”. 4 Strategic Priorities/Aims: A. Challenge attitudes towards sectarianism and racism and the structures that support them. B. Promote active participation of PEACE Programme target groups in civil life in Donegal. C. Promote greater community integration within Donegal and on a crossborder basis. D. Support conflict resolution and mediation and address the legacy of the conflict.

7. Implementing the Plan Secured €4.5million from the SEUPB 24 strategic actions  Grant Scheme  Partner Delivery  Procurement

Grant Scheme €500,000 awarded to the following organisations:  Smashing Times Theatre Company Ltd  Monreagh Ulster Scots Heritage and Education Assoc  An Grianan Theatre  Newtowncunningham Interchurch Committee Ltd  Tyrone Derry, Donegal Action  Fort Dunree Military Museum Ltd.  Association for the Development of Pettigo and Tullyhommon  Balor Development Community Arts Group Ltd

9. Partner Delivery Awarded €2.7m to the following partners:  Donegal VEC  Inishowen Development Partnership  Donegal Community Based Youth Work Consortium  Health Service Executive  Tyrone Derry Donegal Action  Donegal County Council

Procurement 6 actions being tendered in the following areas:  Research into Racism and Sectarianism in Donegal  Explore the Role of Religion in conflict and reconciliation  Champions for Change in Workplace  Innovative Arts and Drama Programme  Innovative Sport and Recreation Programme  Support for Ex-Service Personnel
