Have you ever wondered how to keep your students safe from becoming victimized? Do you know how to spot a bully? Your job will be to develop an understanding of who bullies are and how to manage bullies.

3 Let’s continue Return Home Introduction Task Process Conclusion Evaluation Teacher Page Credits The Task Read the bullying story Tyrone and the Swamp Gang by Hans Wilhelm to activate background knowledge on bullying. Research several websites (that will be provided for you) to further develop an understanding of who bullies are and how to handle bullying situations. Use all the information that you have gathered to create a poster/collage depicting key words, phrases, and or pictures that feature bullying.

Pair up and read the story Tyrone and the Swamp Gang by Hans Wilhelm identifying characteristics of a bully and how the bullying problem is solved to activate background knowledge. 2. Visit the following websites: Stop Bullying Now Safe Child Safe Youth 3. Answer these focus questions: What are the characteristics of a bully? Who are the targets of a bully? What are some possible solutions for bully behavior? Make a replica of this T-chart and complete at your seats.T-chart 4. You will now compile data to create a poster using key words, phrases, and pictures that depict bullying characteristics and/or solutions. Be creative! Use some or all of the materials provided in your prop box. 5. Using the other piece of construction paper provided for you, list strategies that could be utilized within your school or classroom to alleviate such bullying problems.

Targeting bullies should be a priority among school administrators, teachers, and students. You have become a problem-solver to help your students and colleagues address this issue. You can bring your poster to school and discuss some of the findings and solutions with school personnel and students. Can you think of other problems in your school that you may want to provide advice for?

Feel free to navigate the Internet to find additional websites as necessary. The bullying book that was used to activate background knowledge is only one of many bullying issue books. You are welcome to utilize other literature stories that may be appropriate for your grade level. This WebQuest should not take any longer than 90 minutes to complete. You may want to use a larger station to complete your poster. The materials provided for you within your prop box are only examples of materials you can use in the classroom. Be creative in developing your own materials and resources.
