6. Registry Update Due to privacy concerns of programs, we are not allowed to share information on the names of programs that currently participate in the data registry. Currently, there are 3 pulmonary programs from Massachusetts and 6 cardiac programs from Massachusetts. Nationally, there are currently 418 Cardiac Programs participating in the registry and 140 Pulmonary Programs currently participating.

7. Registry Update Breakdown for the Northeast Massachusetts: 6 cardiac programs, 3 pulmonary programs. Rhode Island: no cardiac or pulmonary programs Connecticut: 4 cardiac programs, 0 pulmonary programs New Hampshire: no cardiac or pulmonary programs Maine: 3 cardiac programs, 2 pulmonary programs New York: 5 cardiac programs, 0 pulmonary programs New Jersey: 5 cardiac programs, 1 pulmonary program. Pennsylvania: 12 cardiac programs, 4 pulmonary programs.

8. Registry Update Bench marking outcomes is compared to all programs on a national level. What concerns do you have with getting involved with using the registry. Please list your concerns on the questionnaire provided and we will address with National and post in the next newsletter as well as our forum.

11. AACVPR Professional Certification Earn the only comprehensive professional certification in cardiac rehabilitation: the Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional (CCRP). The Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional (CCRP), exclusively for cardiac rehabilitation (CR) professionals, is the only certification aligned with the published CR competencies. AACVPR’s exam assesses proficiency via exam questions that evaluate knowledge of facts, concepts and processes required to complete tasks in the following areas… Handbook/Review Manual available aacvpr.org

AACVPR Professional Certification Patient Assessment Nutrition Management Weight Management Blood Pressure Management Blood Lipid Management Diabetes Management Tobacco Cessation Psychosocial Management Physical Activity Counseling Exercise Training The CCRP certification is awarded by the AACVPR Professional Certification Commission upon achievement of a passing score on the exam.

13. Eligibility Professionals wishing to sit for the CCRP exam must meet the following criteria: 1,200 clinical hours in CR/secondary prevention Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a health-related field from an accredited college or university OR current RN licensure. Current RN licensure does not necessitate minimum academic requirement. Professionals who do not meet the eligibility requirements may appeal their eligibility. Discounted rates for the first year, will only be available at the National meeting in September, 2014

MACVPR Strategic Plan for 2014 Retain and increase membership to ensure MACVPR remains the preeminent professional organization for Cardiac/ Pulmonary Rehabilitation Current membership: 96 (now 90)  Increase membership by 10% this year  Widen the professional distribution of multidisciplinary team members (more opportunities for contact hours)

17. Strategic Plan for 2014 (continued) Improve the utilization of Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation in MA Performance Measures for Physicians (new for 2014) will be a CMS and Quality Measure Educate key players/tracking mechanism Enhancement of the website

New Initiatives: Innovation and Best Practice Committee Goal: provide MACVPR with a combined strong foundation in technology, informatics, social media, research, and best practice to lead us in a rapidly changing health care environment. Functions to : Enhance and provide alternative channels of communication (Facebook, twitter, linkedin, etc.) Serves as a liaison and maintains a link between MACVPR and AACVPR with presidents approval Recruitment for poster sessions that allow members to disseminate important information on innovative ideas, best practice and research Provide a leadership path and mentorship opportunity within the organization Contribute a standing report/update for the newsletter

19. Poster Presentation Session Purpose is to provide a forum at the New England Symposium to: Disseminate original research findings Showcase successful approaches to patient care Highlight innovation and best practice projects Receive feedback from your colleagues

20. New Initiatives: Student Scholar Team The goal: Connect students from across the state Provide opportunities for networking, collaboration and the development of leadership skills Work with the Membership and/or Innovation and Best Practice committees to enhance means of communication (Facebook, twitter, linkedin, etc.) Contribute to the Student Corner Column in our newsletter (include items such as helpful hints and pearls for fellow students, successes and challenges with internship) *Complete application, 9 month commitment (school year), certificate awarded at completion *Please see Melissa if you are interested/application will be available on our website
