Welcome to our Nursery Meeting 2012

Attendance at Church n 12 O'clock family mass at St John’s Church every Sunday. n Your child will learn the sign of the cross and new prayers in nursery. n Take part in whole school masses.

Nursery visits n In your pack you will all have a date for a nursery visit. n The visits last for approx 15 minutes and your child will meet their teacher and be informed of which group they are in. n We will also ask you to bring their ‘All About Me’ booklet along with you and any important information can be passed on.

Staggered intake n Children all have different admission dates. n Only 4 children per day n They stay for lunch on the first day. Then they stay till 1.30 the next day. n We only take them full-time when we feel they are ready.

School uniform n School uniform is not compulsory for nursery children. n School uniform can purchased from school. n Please label all items of clothing including shoes! n Your child can wear their own clothes but please do not send your child into nursery with their best clothes on, as they will get messy. n Velcro shoes for dance and to encourage independence.

Pastoral Groups n All the children will be placed into a colour group, with a key worker. n The key worker will be responsible for your child whilst they are in nursery. n You must enter nursery and hand your child over to the key worker.

Lunch and Snacks n School lunches are available at a cost of £2.30 per day. n Your child can bring their own packed lunch if you prefer. n Your child does not need snacks, as fruit and milk/water are provided daily.

Early years foundation stage framework n Made up of 6 areas of learning. n All of equal importance:- n Personal, Social and Emotional, n Communication, Language and Literacy, n Problem solving, Reasoning and Numeracy, n Physical, n Knowledge and Understanding, n Creative Development. n All play based activities n Very messy, so be prepared for your child to come home messy!! n Baking once a week so we ask for a £1 donation towards baking materials.

Nursery times n Nursery starts at 8.45am and finishes at 3.20pm. n If your child is being picked up by someone different could you please let a member of staff know. n If your child is sick can you please let school know and your child can not come back into nursery for 24 hours.

Morning and Aftercare provision n Morning care is available from 8am at a cost of £2 per child. n Aftercare is available from 3.20-5.30pm at a cost of £1.50 per half an hour (subject to change).

Peg and Tray n Your child will have their own peg where they can hang their coat. n You can also send in raincoats and wellington boots for wet weather. n Your child will also have their own tray, their tray needs to be checked on a daily basis.

Spare clothes n Could you provide a bag of spare clothes, with your child’s name clearly labelled, to be kept on your child’s peg in nursery in case your child has a accident. n Your child must be fully toilet trained before he/she starts nursery.

Golden jumper and Birthday book n Every child will receive the golden jumper at some stage. n They can keep it for a week and then bring it back to nursery. n When your child celebrates his/her fourth birthday, we would prefer if they did not bring in sweets.
