8. Blending We teach children the sounds and they use these to read the words. We sometimes use sound buttons to do this. Let’s practise a few together.

9. Segmenting We teach children to segment the sounds to write words. We use phoneme frames to support, children write 1 sound on each line. Let’s practise some together.

10. Home Readers Thank you for your comments in your children’s reading records. They are very helpful to us. Please continue to do so.

11. Guided Reading in Reception The children are taking part in guided reading session each week in small groups. They read a variety of books during the guided reading session.
