2 Phonological Awareness Focus: listening activities and rhymes –Lead teacher will hide 3 to 4 instruments behind a barrier and make a sound with each instrument without the students seeing the instrument. Let children guess what instrument they heard. –Hand Clapping games – “patty cake” “Miss Mary Mack” - See handout –Animal Sound Bingo – make a bingo grid with animal pictures and as the teacher gives the animal sounds the children identify the animal that makes that sound and places a marker on that picture. –Finger plays that rhyme

5 Opening Centers Introduce centers : –LT should have 5 students and AT will have 5 students to introduce the centers – Both teachers should take time to discuss the different uses of the items in the centers. –Show the students how to clean up and how items are labeled throughout the classsroom.

7 Additions to Centers Math: -Graph boys and girls in classroom -Graph how we all get to school -AB patterning -Growth chart detailing the height of each student Writing: - Word Wall words home, baby, brother, family, mommy, house, books, daddy, sister, library, grandfather, grandmother -Add people stencils or stamps Dramatic Play: -Our Pre-K Family Tree- we take pictures of our students and their family on meet the teacher day and use these to create a “Pre-k Family Tree” - Add clothes that represent different genders and roles

8 Additions to Centers Science: -Feelings: Second Step -Five Senses -Talk about class pet and family pet Blocks: -Dollhouse with assortment of people and vehicles -Strips of cardboard like out of packaging boxes (can be used as ramps) Art: -people shaped sponges -Paints and crayons that represent various cultures -Colored yarn -Googly eyes -Mirrors Outside: -Backpack with paper, books, markers, chalk crayons, and tablecloth -Learning center material ideas: binoculars, magnifying glasses, rhythm sticks -Roll Ball Name Game: TSW roll ball to each other and call out their names as they roll it to another student

9 Activities Journal paper – “I drew this on the first day of school” Make classroom rules Name Acronym (parent activity) Tactile names – write TS name on tagboard, TS glue beans, sequins, macaroni, ect. On to the letters of their name Classbook on what the students can do all by themselves Tell about you prompt cards
