2 A Child’s Day In The Foundation Stage Oh what a busy morning – I’ve been playing with the dough, And, with a little help, upon a card I’ve even learned to sew. I’ve helped my friend ‘nurse’ Sarah perform an operation, Then fixed the track together for my train and built a station. I popped inside the role-play cottage to make a cup of tea, And stood beside the cooker, making lunch for twenty-three! I completed three whole jigsaws and learnt a new board game, And had a turn on all the bikes, the slide and climbing frame. I handed round the fruit and veg. during our snack time, Then I listened to a story and sang a counting rhyme. But now the session’s over and the parents are all waiting. I think when I come in tomorrow, I will do a lovely painting.

8 How are they Learning? Assessment Ongoing throughout each day Mainly based on Observations during CIP and directed activities. Evidence of progression will be recorded in their Learning Journeys, through photos and, post-it notes and work. Differentiation Through individual questioning. Expectations of final outcome. By adapting activities to suit abilities.

13 Home Reading Book’s Scheme Book band scheme. Pink A, pink, red, yellow, blue, green... Pink A – no words. Books to practice reading at home. Need to be 95% accurate before next level. Reading the words, comprehension, tone, fluency.

18 How can you help your child at home? Read them plenty of stories. Explore the natural environment, whatever the weather! Ensure your child gets lots of physical exercise. Share the school reading books with each other. Have fun together!
