Design Development Drawings 1. Code analysis: examine needed changes 2. Draw accurate existing plans/model 3. Indicate demolition 4. Indicate new wall construction 5. Indicate new floor construction 6. Indicate new ceiling construction 7. Draw main elevations
2
Introduction to Revit Building 8.1 A cross between CAD and SketchUp Building Information Model (BIM) Everything you draw is like a 3D component with “intelligence” Open a whole project, not just a drawing Templates for residential, commercial and other projects
3
Revit interface: overview Screen has Standard tools area, pull- down menus with all command Toolbars stacked on the left Project browser next to that – has all the named views of your model, plus sheets Drawing area varies depending on the view you’re in
4
Drawing stuff Choose object to draw off the Basics menu Set a variety of parameters Height, offsets from the current level, construction Once you draw an object, many other tasks are automated Interior elevations can be extracted by putting in a symbol Sections can be drawn Schedules can be created Perspectives and other views For walls, figure out which wall you’d like to draw Choose wall type Select how it’s drawn Start clicking Click on Properties to add or edit the structure from basics (this can also be done later)
5
Wall Types: choose/create each one Change any one of the following and you’ve got a different wall type: Structural composition (material and spacing) Wood or metal Spacing, dimension and gauge Surface conditions on either side Moisture, impact, surface and applied finishes Connection to the floor structure and finish Does the wall sit on top of the finished floor? Continuation above the ceiling Height of wall and structure Fire rating

Different conditions:

Metal non-rated walls
8
Rated construction

What about sound?
