Our Need for Salvation In the Beginning: Gen. 1-3 –God created world –God created man –Man sinned The rest of the Bible: God dealing with man’s sin!

Our Need for Salvation One lesson to be learned from all Scripture: All have sinned (Rom. 3:23) –Even Abraham –Even Moses –Even David –Even you and me. In the Bible we learn that because of our sins, we need God. We Need Salvation!

God’s Efforts to Bring Salvation Gen. 3:15: Seed of woman will bruise serpent’s head: Christ “bruised” Satan (1 John 3:8). Noah and the flood: saving a remnant Abraham and the blessing: Gen. 22:18; Gal. 3:16 Joseph and the preservation of Israel. Moses and the pattern (Heb. 8:5), but another would come (Deut. 18:18). Thousands of Messianic prophecies (Isa. 53; Jer. 31:31-34, etc.)

God’s Plan Fulfilled in Christ Eph. 3:11: Christ accomplished God’s eternal purpose. –God the word became flesh (John 1:1, 14). –Humbled himself (Phil. 2:6-8) –He fulfilled all O.T. Prophecies (Acts 13:29) –Offered as a sacrifice for offenses (Isa. 53) –Rose from the dead –Is now High Priest and King in heaven (Acts 2:29ff) Heb. 5:8-9: Christ, the author of salvation to all who obey.

God’s Plan for You Heb. 5:8-9 Christ, the author of salvation to all who obey. Matt. 28:20: “…teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.” O.T. teaches the need for obedient faith (Heb. 11) N.T. teaches what we must believe and obey in Christ; how to be Christians. The complete Bible teaches us God’s scheme of redemption.

Where To Begin? Mark 16:15: “Preach the gospel to every creature…” Then what? –Rom. 10:17: Faith comes by hearing God’s word. –Mark 16:16: He who believes (the gospel that is heard) and is baptized shall be saved. –Acts 2:38: Repent of sins –Rom. 10:14: Confess Jesus as Christ –Mark 16:15; Acts 2:38; Rom. 6:3-4: Be baptized in the name of Christ. –Matt. 28:18-20: Live faithful, according to the New Testament.
