7 When were the Colonial times
This timeline will help you understand where in history the Colonial times were Exploring the New World Colonial Times American Revolution Civil War First Flight Civil Rights Birthdays Today April 1585 1903 March 2008 During this time people were just discovering North America This is considered the beginning of colonial times because the first colony was established The colonies begin fighting to break free from the king and establish America The North and South are fighting over slavery and about states rights The Wright Brothers fly the first plane in Kitty Hawk, NC People were fighting to end segregation You were born! History is happening right now! Add key points in the history of your country to the timeline.

9 North Carolina Colonial Records
For this unit we are going to be examining many different primary source documents. We will be using a special collection found at a website called Documenting the American South. This website has many different collections and is supported by the library at UNC. We are going to be using the Colonial and State Records of North Carolina
