Objective: I will be able to identify main and helping verbs. Key Words: Helping/Linking Verbs Notes/examples: Action Verb: a word that shows an action or what the subject of the sentence does EXAMPLE ~ Bob created a mosaic for the art show. Helping Verb: DOES NOT show action, but works with the action verb in the sentence. EXAMPLE ~ As Lisa was wrenching off the heavy cover, we were watching the door.

Helping vs. Linking Know the Difference???
A HELPING verb HELPS an action verb ex: You are jumping too high. A LINKING verb LINKS the subject with a word that tells more about it. It tells what someone or somethig is, was, or will be. ex: The coach looks happy today.
