W HY I L IKED T HIS B OOK I liked this book, because it always kept you guessing. In the beginning, Juliette, the main character, was in jail and she didn’t plan on getting out anytime soon. She had been in a small cell for almost 300 days. By herself. All because she was special. Then the plot changes. She had never had a roommate. She didn’t even know that was allowed. One day, she woke up and there he was. Not a girl but a boy. He tried to talk to her but she wouldn’t say anything back. The only time she talked to him was when she was telling him how to use the showers. Then the plot changes yet again. This time she is being dragged out of her cell and her “roommate” (who wasn’t even really a roommate) is standing by the door in a military uniform watching these big, strange men drag her away. Then the plot changes again, but I don’t want to tell you too much of the story.

B RIEF S UMMARY Juliette Ferrars,17 years, was incarcerated for murder of a little boy. She didn’t mean to kill him. She didn’t even know how she did it. It just happened. Juliette is a very reserved person. She has personal rules that she follows. She never breaks these rules. If she does, someone would probably end up dead. One day, Juliette gets a new roommate. He looked very familiar to her and it turned out that he went to school with her. They develop and uncertain relationship, but he isn’t who he seems. In the end, they fall for each other and go on this crazy mission to find freedom.

E XCERPT F ROM S HATTER ME Page 1 “ I have been locked up for 264 days. I have nothing but a notebook and a broken pen and the numbers in my head to keep me company. 1 window. 4 walls. 144 square feet of space. 26 letters in an alphabet that I haven’t spoken in 264 days of isolation. 6,336 hours since I’ve touched another human being. “You’re getting a cellmate roomate,” they said to me. “We hope you rot to death in this place For good behavior,” they said to me. “Another psycho just like you no more isolation,” they said to me………….
