Critical Thinking Skills Interpreting and discussing anecdotes An anecdote is a very short story with a humorous or interesting point. The descriptions of cultural situations tell what happened to create cross-cultural misunderstanding or learning, Summarizing an anecdote

Vocabulary Building Understanding new vocabulary in context: two meanings of culture- a society’s achievements in the arts, science or government; the values, beliefs, and customs of a society. Recognizing nouns, verbs, and adjectives Ex. Our class discussed the definition of modern culture, but there were a lot of opposing (adjective) views. The main opposition (noun) came from Carmel. She opposes (verb) everything we said! Understanding adverbs of manner

Language Skills Recognizing and discussing cultural attitudes and customs Researching and reporting on unfamiliar cultures Do an Internet search about a culture that you don’t know well. You can use a search engine and type in the country’s name and the word culture. It can be anything like food, language, sport, music, types of greetings, gestures, money, architecture.
