12. www.ihs.com © IHS 2003 National Tooling Database  Problem  As weapons systems age, the acquisition of forged repair parts becomes more difficult because supply chain information disappears.  Location of tools to make the forged parts becomes lost.  Research time to find forge sources increases as does the cost of acquisition.  Weapons system readiness is impacted, the warfighter (or the space pioneer) is not efficiently supported. Clean and complete parts information can then be loaded into Haystack and distributed to DLA, Government and Tool Shops.  Solution  Create a National Tooling Database, integrating data from multiple sources (Forging shops, DLA, and another private contractor)  Link data to wealth of Haystack information for parts management and logistics support data  Commercialize the solution and bring data to the marketplace  IHS – Cost Share participant in FDMC program
