Harlem Renaissance The Great Migration, due to WWI, was the movement of blacks from the rural South to industrial North Black populations, looking for employment, swelled in northern cities especially in New York City in the 1920s New generation of Af-Am poets, novelists, actors, artists, and intellectuals embrace African heritage Cultural movement known as “New Negro Movement” aka Harlem Renaissance
