4. Major Roles of Elements in the body…  Oxygen  Reacts with glucose or food to produce ATP Energy and the Carbon dioxide that we breathe out.  Makes up 65.0% of our body mass.

5. Major Roles of Elements in the body…  Carbon  Carbon is required to form proteins, carbohydrates, fats and nucleic acid.  Also helps determine the body structure.  Makes up 18.5% of our body mass.

6. Major Roles of Elements in the body...  Hydrogen  Hydrogen atoms help to form water molecules, which are essential in our bodies.  Hydrogen also influences the pH of body fluids.  Makes up 9.5% of our body mass.
