5 n Responsiveness of training to business needs n Top skills needed (now and future) n Underemployment n More current data –Projections base year is old (short-term projections will help, feature 1999 Edition on cover) –OES Wage survey data are too old; OES Policy Council developing methods to age forward WIA CUSTOMER NEEDS

6 n Training Workshops - on data usage, automation products, One-Stop LMI case study applications n Labor shortage indicators (paper developed) n Skills matching (workers skills to job openings) n LMI program data to job openings n High Demand/High Skill jobs (high wage), screened by wage by area, apply Florida cost-of-living, Local Workforce Boards make adjustments to targeted job lists by an appeal process

7 WIA CUSTOMER NEEDS n New and emerging jobs n More detailed occupational categories (instead of Systems Analyst, want Microsoft, A+, or Cisco Certified) n Rapid Response/Dislocated Worker Program, impact studies using REMI, RIMS, IMPLAN n Recession study, what jobs would be impacted n County distress indicators

8 WIA CUSTOMER NEEDS n High technology jobs and wages n Employment by zip code, more subcounty data, more demographics of employment data n Living wages (broader than poverty level) n LMI uses for economic development and employer assistance (paper developed) n Fringe Benefits
