ARIELLE KELLAM Freshman Double Major: Mechanical Engineering & Visual Arts I learned how simple (and surprisingly cheap) it is to create interactive, intelligent devices. This course has given me a newfound interest in the area of animatronics and encouraged me that this is my right major. UF Goal: 2 Bachelor’s Degrees in four years (Maybe a Masters for Engineering in five). Become an Imagineer and work for Disney. Beyond that an artist or entrepreneur. Beyond that… Advice: Have fun! Don’t be so serious – of course you’re here for an education, but branch out and try new things, take a class that sounds “adventurous.”

ARKEVIOUS HARDWICK Freshmen Mechanical Engineering, minor in Computer Science I learned how simple circuit boards can turn into complex robots with AI intelligence This course has re-sparked my interest in robotics and has further encouraged me to become an engineer I plan to acquire a Master’s degree to Ph.D. during my time here at the University of Florida Possibly during or after my time here, I hope to acquire a job or position at Lockheed Martin Advice: Anything worth having is worth working for, no matter what it may be.
5
GERASIMOS MADALVANOS Freshman Exploratiory Engineering I’m going to be switching to Electrical Engineering in the spring I learned basic coding of a robot, and how to make a wall- follow algorithm. This course reaffirmed my love for electrical engineering and helped start me on the path to learning software. I plan to follow the traditional track of an EE with a minor in computer science I plan to either find work in state post-bachelors or to pursue a master’s degree The shortest path between two points isn’t always a straight line.
6
ROBYN SUTTER Freshman Biomedical Engineering I learned that there is always a more efficient way to program a robot than first expected, and that possibilities for improvement are endless. This course has made me decide that there is no way I am going to go through school without incorporating robotics/programming into my undergraduate courses. I plan to bridge biomedical and computer engineering in undergrad in order to pursue my interests in biomimetics, neurology, and nanorobotics. Ideally some sort of job will come out of this. Advice! Realize where you are most clueless and do your best to change that.

ROBOT STORY THE EPIC STRUGGLE OF FR@’S JOURNEY TRYING TO FIND HIS WAY HOME
8
Once upon a time, There was a robot named Swooty FR@. He was depressed after seeing the Gators lose yet another game and ended up getting drunk in Midtown. Lost and confused (also partially blind and impaired), FR@ desperately clung to the walls, searching for his way home. Every corner he turned was a challenge to balance the motor speeds in his wheels and keep a close distance to the wall without ramming into them… His logarithms kept him in check but he wasn’t sure how much longer he could hold out… As the light faded around him, his consciousness grew dim… Until… He finally found his way home and immediately passed out in the safety and comfort of the familiar darkness in his house. THE END

“All in all, we’ve learned that teamwork and creative thinking can solve most of your problems, and our advice to the next generation is to take inspiration from the world around you and learn to apply what is in books to real life.” Team Crunk
