3 Brief The French Revolution ( ) turned France into a republic state. Many reforms were made and many people died. Even the King, King Louis XVI and his wife a beheaded.

4 More Unhappiness France was split into 3 estates. This was made up by the Clergy, Nobility, Peasants. The French had no judicial system at all. The King and his wife were spending money like it was water. (Palace of Versailles)

5 Some more…… France was sliding into bankruptcy. This caused fear and anger in the hearts of the people.

6 Taxes and Writers Taxes were increasing. Also, only the 3rd estate had to pay the taxes. The other two did not have to do so. This made the people in the third estate very angry. Writers also wrote books on how every man was created equal by God. This fueled the Revolution.

7 Trouble Crop failures in the 1780s means that the price of bread was raised dramatically. Many French of the 3rd estate starved. There was a meeting where all the estates met up to discuss problems. The third estate was barred from using the hall. So, the used a tennis court. There they swore to reform France. This became known as the Tennis Court Oath.

8 The Storming Of The Bastille
As a result of this, the people of Paris rose up and stormed Bastille prison. They used their bare hands to bring the prison down. The soldiers there allowed the people to carry on because they did not want to shoot at unarmed people. The people did this because the Bastille was a symbol of the King’s power.
