Smart Solutions for Energy and Transportation Theme

What is KPIT SPARKLE 2016 about?

It’s all about dreaming & making your dreams come true.

What comes to your mind when you think of Energy

Energy Generation Energy Transmission Energy Storage Clean Energy Optimizing Energy Consumption Reducing Energy Losses Safety

Energy & related issues Energy LossesEnergy TheftEnergy De-centralization Quality of energyCurrent sources of energyCost of energy

What comes to your mind when you think of Transportation

Fuel Cost Pollution Safety Engine Efficiency Better / Alternate fuels Alternate modes of transport

Powertrain Technology Ride Comfort Connected Vehicles Infotainment New fuels New Materials

Weight Reduction Cost Reduction Traffic Decongestion Transportation Modalities Others

Transportation and related issues Why is Cost/km high? What about atmospheric pollution? What is the IC engine energy conversion efficiency? What is the cost of one liter of petrol? What about safety of driver, passenger and pedestrians on the road ? What can be done to improve IC engine efficiency?

Participation Details Students from all science and engineering disciplines including PG students are eligible. You should register (free registration) and submit an abstract of what you intend to do in line with one of the areas – on or before 20 th Sept 2015 You can also include attachments along with your abstract if required.

Participation Details You can give multiple entries in one area or multiple areas. A team of experts will evaluate your idea and select top rated ones from across India. You will get an intimation mail/ update on portal about your selection.

Participation Details Post selection, you can work on your idea and create a working proof of concept. A second level selection process will decide which of the projects would be selected to be demonstrated during the Grand Final Event.

Awards 10 Lakh 1 Platinum Award 5 Lakh 1 Gold Award 1 Lakh 5 Silver awards Awards for Top 3 Poster Designs 75,000 | 50,000 | 25,000

Dreams

IC engine with > 60% efficiency Any engine with a range of 1000 kms Cost per one km is less than one rupee Environ- mentally better by 50% Top speed of 100 kmph Can carry 4 passengers I have a dream. Can you make it happen?

Aircraft that doesn’t need a runway to take off It can stay up in air for 2 weeks without refueling Environ- mentally better by more than 50% Can take load of 10,000 Kgs Top speed of 100 kmph It can fly at 100 mph I have a dream. Can you make it happen?

Which Challenge would you reject as not possible? Automotive Aircraft

Someone made the ‘not possible’ come true for the Aircraft challenge. It is called HAV304

HAV304: THE TECHNICAL DATA Volume : 1,340,000 ft³ (38,000 m³) Length : 302 ft (92m) Width : 143 ft (43.5m) Height : 85 ft (26m) Endurance: 5 days manned Altitude: up to 20,000 ft (6,100 m) Speed: 92 mph (148 km/hr) Weight: 44,100 lbs (20,000 kg) Payload capacity: 22,050 lbs (10,000 kg) Someone made the dream come true.

Would you now take up the automotive challenge and make it happen?

Thank You. kpit.com/sparkle
