TEAM NOTES A reminder came home on Friday about Personalized Learning Parent University Night. This is a get together just for the special classes that were chosen to pilot Personalized Learning at SBES. We want you to be a part of this exciting new adventure, so please plan to attend. Representatives from the District and all of the SBES staff involved will be there to give you an overview of Personalized Learning and what it will look like in your child’s classroom. Reading/Lang. Arts – Mrs. Fulton In Reading, we are continuing to work on character traits, actions, feelings, and motivations. We are also touching on point of view. Here are some questions to ask when you are reading with your child: 1.How would you describe this character? (personality traits rather than physical traits) 2.Why do you think the character did that? 3.How did the character’s traits and actions effect the ending of the story? 4.Whose point of view is the story told from? 5.How would the story change if it was told from the point of view of a different character in the book? In Language Arts, we will be finishing up with verbs (verb tenses, irregular verbs, and noun-verb agreement) and moving on to adjectives. Thurs., Nov. 6 – Heritage Night, 5:30 p.m. Wed., Nov. 12 – Personalized Learning Parent University Night, 6:30 p.m. Thurs., Nov. 13 – STEM Night – 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. Book Fair – Nov. 5 – 13, open during Heritage Night & Stem Night Thanksgiving Break – Nov. 24 - 28 Reading/Language Arts – Wed., 11/5, Vocabulary Test Math – Wed.; 11/5– Final Assessment on Properties of Multiplication and multiplication/division. Science – Students will complete a science experiment for a grade. READING/LA HOMEWORK All of the Smart 7 Strategies have to be used to get credit for homework! They need to start practicing their tables at home. Monday and Tuesday – review multiplication and division strategies, and test on Wednesday.
