AT 16:18HRS, HUBLI BUS BECAME DEAD DUE TO INSULATOR BURST AT HUBLI ON 220KV HUBLI-LINGAPUR. KPTCL DETAILS 2. 400KV KAIGA-GUTTUR WAS ALREADY OUT. NAGJHERI & KAIGA GENERATION WAS AROUND 800MW. CHIKKODI, BELGAUM, NARENDRA, AMBEWADI & GOA LOADS ARE AROUND MW. POWER RUSHED TO GUTTUR THROUGH 220KV KAIGA-GUTTUR LINE. AT 16:21HRS, 220KV KAIGA-GUTTUR LINE ALONG WITH KAIGA UNITS TRIPPED. KAIGA & NAGJHERI COMPLEX FREQUENCY SHOOT UP TO 52.6HZ. SUBSEQUENTLY ALL NAGJHERI WERE TRIPPED AT 16:33HRS. SCADA

52 PRESENT KOLAR INTER TRIP LOGIC
COMMISSIONED ON CONDITIONS BEING CONSIDERED FOR TRIPPING OF 220 KV LINES ON TRIPPING OF TALCHER-KOLAR HVDC POLE(S) MONOPOLAR OPERATION: If the pole power one second prior to trip was more than 400 MW, we extend the inter-trip. BIPOLAR OPERATION: (2A) If both poles were carrying power in excess of 200 MW and both poles trip within a time span of 2 sec, we extend inter-trip. (2B) If both poles were carrying power in excess of 800 MW and any one of the poles trips, we extend inter-trip irrespective of power compensation by the surviving pole. (2C) If each pole was carrying power in the range of 400 MW to 800MW and one pole trips, no trip is extended if after a delay of 2 sec the power of surviving pole is more than 600 MW.

54 SUGGESTED SCHEME: TRIP SIGNAL 1
Trip Signal 1 would be initiated under any one of the following two conditions: If loss of power flow on the HVDC link at any instant compared with the power flow 2 seconds prior to current instant is more than 500 MW but less than or equal to 1000 MW. If one of the HVDC pole block on a line fault and the power flow on the HVDC link just prior to that instant was more than 1000 MW but less than or equal to 1500 MW.

55 SUGGESTED SCHEME: TRIP SIGNAL 2
Trip Signal 2 would be initiated to obtain an additional relief of around 800 MW (in addition to 700 MW from Trip Signal 1) : If loss of power flow on the HVDC link at any instant compared with the power flow 2 seconds prior to current instant is more than 1000 MW. If one of the HVDC pole block on a line fault and the power flow on the HVDC link just prior to that instant was more than 1500 MW. Note: In the event of occurrence of Trip signal 2, the total relief would be of the order of around 1500 MW.
