1 Muscle Injuries and Diseases
Muscular System Muscle Injuries and Diseases

2 Muscle Injuries 1. Strain- is the tearing or stretching of muscle fibers when they are suddenly pulled apart too far.

3 Treatment for Strain 1. Apply an ice pack to the affected area.
2. Take Analgesics.

4 2. Cramp It is an uncontrolled and prolonged contraction of a muscle accompanied by pain.

5 It is caused by build up of lactic acid in the muscle during of immediately after a strenuous exercise. Lactic Acid-Milk Acid

6 It is also caused by lack of oxygen in the muscle due to poor blood circulation when in awkward sitting position.

7 Treatment for Cramps Massage the affected area.

8 3. Bruise Discoloration of the muscle. Black and blue spot caused by the blood from the injured muscle (pasa).

9 Treatment for Bruises Cold compress to prevent swelling and ease the pain.

10 Diseases and Disorders of muscles and Tendons
1. Tendinitis is an inflammation or swelling of the tendons specially in the knees, heels, shoulders, and elbow.

11 Treatment for Tendinitis
Doctors use anti-inflammatory drugs to cure tendinitis.

16

17 Treatment for Gangrene
The affected part is cut off.

18 4. Tumors It is an abnormal mass of tissue. It occurs mostly to women. It ussually develop in the uterus.

19 However, tumors (including “sarcomas” or malignant tumors) can occur almost anywhere.

20 Treatment for tumor Operation

21 5. Myasthenia Gravis Or Serious Muscle Weakness
The muscle become weak and tire easily.

22 Treatment of Myasthenia Gravis
Continuous medication

23 6. Muscular Dystrophy An inherited muscular disorder in which the muscles slowly become weak.

24 Muscular dystrophies are characterized by progressive skeletal muscle weakness, defects in muscle proteins, and the death of muscle cells and tissue

25 Treatment for Muscular Dystrophy
There is no known cure for muscular dystrophy. However, they should not be allowed to get overweight because this will make their condition worse. They should be active.
