Pam Shelton Biology Major - Health Science Concentration Chemistry Minor Tennessee Tech University - Cookeville, TN

Statement of Concentration My name is Pam Shelton. I am a senior at Tennessee Tech. I will be graduating this semester with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry. I am in the Health Science Concentration. When I first began TTU, I knew I wanted to go to medical school or something similar. So, I began following the pre-professional curriculum. At the end of my sophomore year, I had to declare a major. I chose Chemistry because there was not much else to choose from for the field I wanted to go in to. Then, the Health Science Concentration was created in the Biology Department. The requirements for that concentration allowed me to take most of the classes which I wanted to take as Chemistry major but did not have enough time for. I felt those classes would better benefit me in a pre- professional school than the upper level chemistry courses. Since changing my major, I have been extremely happy with my decision. I have learned many things which I can benefit from after graduation. I plan to go to Physician’s Assistant School after graduation. I should find out if I get accepted by December.

Statement of Club Interest I have been interested in joining the Tri-Beta Club the entire four years I have been at Tennessee Tech. Yet, I have been very involved and held officer’s positions in several other clubs and honor societies. This did not allow me enough time to participate in Tri-Beta. Since it is my last semester, I have given up my officer positions in the other clubs. I am thinking about joining Tri- Beta this semester.

I will keep and open mind, non judgmental mind while learning and dealing with patients.
