Source Reduction Eliminate chipboard carriers or trays The trays are only needed to hold the products together during wrapping and to obscure the individual bar codes when sold as a multipack Trays are not required for vertical wrapping in a Texwrap system and printed film or labels can be used to change the bar code Large retailers such as Wal- Mart have initiatives in place to eliminate all unnecessary packaging.

Labor Reduction/Elimination Most multipacked products are packaged off-line using manual labor and semi-automatic shrink wrappers. Even when wrapping is partially automated, label positioning is a slow, labor-intensive operation Liquids for UPS/FedEx shipping from on-line marketers must be totally wrapped.
