3 Essential Questions What are genres of reading?
Which genres interest me most? Why is genre interest an important factor in my meeting the standard 7RC1 (reading 25 grade-level books or the equivalent thereof)? How can I show my preferred genres creatively?

4 What are genres of reading?
Watch the following video clip. Be ready to tell some different types of genres that you know. Be ready to list 4 reading genres that you like. Click on the icon to view the video.

5 Why is genre interest an important factor in the volume of my reading?
Interest in genre is part of the motivation to read. To develop reading fluency, you must read in quantity. Students who read books of their choosing are students who develop a love of reading. To be a balanced reader, you must develop an appreciation for genres outside your interest realm; this is why there are some required books in 7th grade, and why you will choose some of your own. As a reading-loving teacher, I know the value of your interests when it comes to reading!

6 How can I use my list of genres I like to creatively show my reading personality?
Watch the following video segment to see how to use your reading preferences to show your reading personality in a creative collage format. Click on the scissors to view the video segment
