AIM: What is Absolutism? Do Now: How would your life change if we had a King/Queen in charge of the United States? Would your life be better or worse with a King?

Absolute Monarch –A king or queen who has unlimited power and seeks to control all aspects of society. Centralize (To bring under one’s control) power. Where did these Kings/Queens believe they received their power from? –GOD –DIVINE RIGHT – Monarchs get their right to rule from God. –“Sun King” – France should revolve around Louis XIV –“I am the state.” PRIMARY SOURCES / READING
