2 Aime  ePortfolio as lifelong learning tool for evidencing prior learning for further assessment or recognition  presenting a conceptual model of ePortfolio system as a tool for assessment and recognition of prior learning in continuing education of librarians in Croatia based on results of one-year project “Lifelong learning for librarians: learning outcomes and flexibility,” financialy supported by The National Foundation for Science, Higher Education and Technological Development of the Republic of Croatia InFuture2009, Zagreb http://www.nsk.hr/CUK

3 Portfolio  Portfolio  is a written record of the skills, achievements and learner’s development over time;  its purpose is to give evidences of someone’s professional or personal competencies or learning experience gathered over some period of time;  Portfolio  doesn’t stand instead of formal qualifications;  without accademic/professional standards, setted goals or reflective writting a portfolio is just a fancy multimedia presentation or electronic resume InFuture2009, Zagreb

4  It can be of different types: artistic, learning, research, institutional, career, financial and so forth;  It could be maintain on different formats, such as written, electronic or web-based portfolios (LinkedIn - presenting personal credentials and connecting with peers) Portfolio InFuture2009, Zagreb  In Higher education institutions:  as digital archive of learner’s work, as learner-centered ePortfolio  as an institution-centered database, or assessment management system, to collect administrative assessment data

7 ePortfolios  Advantages:  Integrates different media types (graphic, audio, video, texts …)  Easy accessible, easy to update  Collaboration  Easy creation of profiles for different purposes  Foster digital literacy  Linking between personal learning environment and assessment management systems  Disadvantages:  Interoperability  Ownership and access rights over portfolios  Lack of pedagogical guidance, take time to maintain a ePortfolio  Recommendation: it would be best to maintain written and e-portfolio InFuture2009, Zagreb

8 ePortfolio as lifelong learning tool  supports ongoing learning/professional development  formative and summative assessment  reflective writing  and collaborative, active and deep learning  it is powerful tool for professional development planning or career planning by fostering intrinsic motivation of a learner to maintain portfolio on an ongoing basis throughout formal classes, programs of non-formal learning or just in demonstrating professional or personal growth over time  ePortfolios as personal online spaces, as learner’s ‘repository’ InFuture2009, Zagreb

10 CPD model to achieve  Comeptency-based continuing professional development  outcomes-based curriculum  learner-centered aproach  self-regulated learning  according to professional standard statements  Portfolio-based CPD  profesional development plan  monitoring of goals, self-assessment  recording qualifications and learning experiences  reflecting upon achieved outcomes, evidencing progress  encouraging feedback from others – peer assessment; obtain a validation of CPD to maintain/advance professional status
