What you can expect from me as a teacher.. R E S P E C T I’ll try to be respectful of you as a human being by listening carefully and providing the most helpful response. If you feel disrespected in my class, I will take your complaint seriously. The same applies if you feel disrespected by another student which I take equally as serious.

Harassment, bullying, name calling, racist, gender-based, or homophobic remarks are NOT tolerated and will be dealt with immediately.

F A I R N E S S I do my best to hold all student to the same standards of behavior. Some students will learn certain parts of the class faster than others; this is natural. All students are expected to come on time, respect others, follow directions to the best of their ability, and to speak Spanish 100% of the time or use gestures. If you can’t do this you will have consequence appropriate to your situations.

PERSISTENCE & FAITH I believe that ANY student can learn Spanish, so I’ll push you hard every day to help you get as far as you can reach at every moment. I will do this by speaking Spanish and insisting on a Spanish- only environment.

I get 10/10 language- use points! I learn more Spanish and help others learn. I practice valuable job skills. What are the Pros of being on time and Cons of being or late? I get 5/10 language- use points. I learn less Spanish, distract others from learning Spanish. I might get a call home. I might get a referral. PROSPROS CONSCONS

RESPECT EVERYONE! Basic Rules of Respect: 1.Listen when I am talking. 2.Listen when another student is talking. I get 10/10 language-use points. I practice positive social skills that help me in other areas of my life. PROSPROS CONSCONS I get 5/10 language- use points. I might get a call home. I might get a referral.

EFFORT AND IMMERSION Participation is one of the most important components of learning a foreign language. It’s okay to be wrong but not okay to quit or refuse to try. I will speak Spanish 100% of the time unless there is an issue that MUST be addressed in English. Immersion in a foreign language is the best method of instruction. It is my goal for you to live in Spanish in our classrom; to think, speak, work, converse, joke, and perform in the language. I EXPECT YOU TO TRY.

EFFORT AND IMMERSION CONT’D Speak Spanish, use gestures, or do both! See me during a break if you are having trouble! PROSPROS 1.I get 10/10 language-use points. 2.I learn a LOT more Spanish than I would if I didn’t try. 3.I go from feeling not really confident about learning languages to VERY Confident. CONSCONS 1.I get 5/10 language-use points. 2.I don’t learn as much Spanish. 3.I’m probably doing something else like speaking English or something else that will produce unwanted results.
