What was going on at that time? The Art Academy (school) and the Salon (major art show) ‘shut out’ many young artists because their style was not traditional. First car built by Henry Fordin1893. What make the artwork of the Impressionists unique? For the first time, brush strokes were left visible. Paintings often depicted outdoor/leisure activity of the upper middle class. Artists worked outside and tried to capture the impression of sunlight striking objects.
