THE PROCESS Identify the learning outcomes Identify the “need”
Identify the stakeholders OHSU Senior Nursing Students OIT Respiratory Junior Students Cascade East (AHEC)Residents Klamath County Fire Department Identify the learning outcomes Identify the resources
4
THE LEARNING OUTCOMES 1. To recognize the contributions and strengths that each health care provider brings to the team in a very high stress situation 2. To understand how essential good communication and collaboration is necessary to provide optimal patient care.

THE EVALUATION What we saw
16
What we heard 40 out of 45 participants returned a written evaluation
“I think all disciplines learned from one another and we were able to establish the different roles. I would like to continue working with the other disciplines.” Nursing Student “I thought working with the nurses was very helpful, because we were able to collaborate and assist each other in learning.” Respiratory Student
17
“This was effective at working with the three disciplines
“This was effective at working with the three disciplines. This was a very realistic representation. The recreation of the ambiance is excellent.” Resident
18
“Thank you” “doing this sort of activity again would be great and helpful to everyone involved.” “I would love to have this type of practice more often” “Thanks. Please contact us if you want resident in the future” “Keep doing this” “I really liked having the input from the residents and MD’s during the debriefing.” “It was a good experience I wish we could do this more often with other disciplines.” “I’m very impressed with the interdisciplinary collaboration! An awesome idea plus the articles we read to prepare spoke highly of practicing simulations with interdisciplinary teams.”
19
THE FUTURE We will do more Figure out the economics Mentor disciplines
Writing simulations Producing simulations Preparing students Debriefing strategies Involve more disciplines
