On Tuesday, December 15th, 2009 students of the Comenius team had the opportunity to attend a lecture in the amphitheater of our school by Emmanuel Lioudaki. Dr Emmanuel Lioudaki is a research scientist at the Institute of Cyprus on energy and photovoltaic systems.
3
The lecture was on the applications of photovoltaic systems and their evolution.
4
Impression made by the new applications of photovoltaic systems as : ☼ The environmentally friendly building ☼ The solar car ☼ The solar woods ☼ The solar yacht ☼ Electric Bonsai tree
5
The environmentally friendly building The building produces electricity required from renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power generators and the provisions incorporated in the building itself. The eco-building has a distinct appearance that makes it one of the tourist attractions in the future.
6
The ecological "Flower" The "flower" is an energetic artwork and is able to store enough energy to keep a lit LED lamps throughout the night. The solar car The provisions of photovoltaic modules use solar energy which is converted into electricity. The vehicle may be driven at a speed of 90 km / h and cover a distance up to 300 km without the need of sunlight.
7
The solar woods The solar forest trees are made up of photovoltaic sheets. Each of the trunks of the trees have an outlet, which supplies with charge an electric vehicle. The solar yacht The yacht can travel at a speed of 6 knots using only solar power and 13 knots with the addition of oil. It can be yours with only 400 000 !!!
8
Electric Bonsai tree The electrical charger tree, bonsai, consists of 54 tiny photovoltaic devices and can recharge small devices such as mobile phones and cameras.
