Classroom Expectations: Science Notebook Scholars are required to use a composition notebook for all scientific explorations. All classwork, labs, homework must be completed in the science notebook. All science notebooks should include: a table of contents with date, title, and page number.

Principal’s Book Club Scholars are encouraged to read 25 science related books by end of the school year.

Portfolio Pieces : 30% Ten Portfolio Pieces are necessary to excel to next grade.

Classwork and Labs: 30% Labs are essential to understanding scientific concepts. Scholars are expected to complete all labs in order to be successful in their science classes.

Test/ Exams/ Projects: 25% Pre Test Post Test Projects

Homework: 15% Homework is given 3x a week in Science

Unit 2- Forces and Motion on Earth November 29 th – December 22 nd Essential Question- How do we apply the laws of motion to explain the movement of objects on Earth? Motion Newton’s 3 Laws of Motion Acceleration, Forces, and Mass

Unit 3- Earth, Sun, Moon System January 1 st – February 20 th Essential Question- What roles do forces play in the patterns and stability of the solar system? Seasons and Cycles Solar System Phases of the Moon Eclipses and Tides

Unit 4- Humans in their environment March 3 rd –May 23 rd Essential Question- How does human consumption of resources impact the environment and our health? Natural Resources Nutrition and Food Choices Global Warming
