5 Diploma Cards Print clearly
Complete & turn in when they are distributed in your Advisory Room. VERY IMPORTANT … please make sure this information is accurate and printed legibly Your full name will go on the diploma—write down your birth name — not shortened name or nickname Please also remember to write down your diploma type. Regular – Honors – IB

6 Application Process Online applications preferred
Private colleges.. refer to their website Complete all areas of the application forms Pay via credit card or include personal check or money order with application Submit electronically and print out counselor page/HS verification page • Let the counseling secretary know as soon as you hit the SEND button !!

7 Submit forms to COUNSELING SECRETARY
Fill out college applications completely/accurately Print out Counselor Form, which you can print out and bring to the office. Turn into Guidance Office – Attendance Secretary Fill out ½ sheet Yellow Transcript Request Form It costs $2.00 for each transcript to be sent Give a copy of Personal Profile Sheet/Resume to people writing letters for you. Write a thoughtful, meaningful, well written college essay –edit/rewrite/edit/rewrite and have an adult read it. Letters of Recommendation >> Give teachers at least one week to write the letter

9 DON’T STOP WORKING & DO WELL IN CHALLENGING CLASSES
>> 4 year colleges like to see AP, IB, and PSEO classes on your transcript BECAUSE THOSE COURSES ARE GOOD PREDICTORS OF COLLEGE SUCCESS; >> Use a “ NORMAL ” address. They do not look favorably on addresses such as …. or …..; >> When asked if an A in a regular class was better than a B in an AP/IB class, the OSU admissions rep responded, “That’s easy. Get an A in the AP/IB class.” >>COLLEGES LOOK AT GRADE TRENDS AND COURSES TAKEN SENIOR YEAR..KEEP WORKING !!

10 WHAT CAN AFFECT YOUR WEIGHTED GPA?
You receive no credit for the following classes and they do count as ‘classes’….. • Study Hall • Unassigned 6th or 7th periods • Being a Student Assistant NO CREDITS

12   Free Application for Federal Student Aid All need-based state, federal aid programs and some scholarships require the FAFSA. Fill out the online form online Univ. of Dayton will host a Super Sunday to assist in filling out the forms in March 2012 Parents/students need to complete taxes before completing FAFSA

15 NCAA Clearinghouse for Div. I & Div. II Colleges
You must apply online if you plan to play any college sport at Download the release form Bring release form to counselor’s office with $2.00 and we will send transcript. You must pay online using a credit card You will also download the final transcript form which you should hold on to until NCAA calls for it at the end of the year. This should be done ASAP. Athletes cannot make a college visit until this is done. NCAA Division I rule! ALSO … this includes WALK-ONS !!

16 College Entrance Exams
Sign up immediately if you have not taken yet!!! The ACT has multiple choice questions in English, math, reading, and science reasoning, plus an optional writing test. The SAT has 3 sections: critical reading, math, and writing. The SAT Subject Tests consists of one-hour tests in specific subjects. The SAT also has an essay section. Most universities in this area require the ACT. Check with the university that you plan to attend to see which entrance exam is required and the recommended score.

20 Accuplacer Test SCC ACCUPLACER FAQS - It is a computerized placement test in reading, writing, and math that is a part of Sinclair Community College’s enrollment and registration process. Must I show a photo ID to take the ACCUPLACER Placement test? Who should take ACCUPLACER? How many questions are on the test? How long does it take to complete the placement test? Do students need an appointment to take ACCUPLACER? Do students need computer skills? When should students complete their ACCUPLACER assessment?

21 Military Opportunities
ASVAB-stands for Armed Forces Vocational Battery, a multi- aptitude test battery taken by juniors and seniors in HS. The battery consists of 10 short individual tests, which cover: 1. Word knowledge ) Paragraph Comprehension 3. Arithmetic Reasoning ) Mathematics Knowledge 5. General Science ) Auto and Shop Information 7. Mechanical Comprehension 8) Electronics Information 9. Numerical Operations ) Coding Speed The ASVAB is a good reflection on how well you have developed your academic occupational abilities.
