How many other pilgrims does the narrator meet? 7. The narrator says that he is going to interrupt his story about the pilgrimage. What does he plan to tell us?

End of the Prologue Read the remainder of the prologue and answer the following questions, adding them to the questions answered at the beginning of class. These will become your notes. 1. Who is the host? 2. How does Geoffrey Chaucer describe his appearance and personality? 3. Describe Chaucer’s attitude towards the man. 4. What indicates that the host has substantial leadership ability? 5. Identify the terms of the contest the Innkeeper suggests. 6. In what way is the contest a good business move for him? 7. How many stories did Chaucer intend to include in the Canterbury Tales?

Character Cube You will be assigned a character from The Canterbury Tales and given the template to create a cube for that character. Use your chart to help you complete your cube and I suggest using thicker paper to create your cube on. Side breakdown: 1. name of character 2. picture/images of character 3. examples of direct characterization (quotes) 4. examples of indirect characterization (quotes) 5. full written description (should be backed up by sides 3 & 4) 6. social commentary expressed (what was Chaucer saying about your character?)
