The Purpose of the Writing Center TTutoring is a free service offered by Purdue North Central, in coordination with the English department to help students with their writing for all areas. AA quiet area to work and study AAvailable Hours: Mondays: 9:00 A.M.-5:00 P.M. Tuesdays: 9:30 A.M.-4:00 P.M. Wednesdays: 9:00 A.M.-5:00 P.M. Thursdays: 9:30 A.M.-5:00 P.M. Fridays: 9:00 A.M.- 2:00 P.M. * Hours subject to change.

Prepare Application A. Write Personal Statement 1. Choose interesting topic a. describe an influential person in your life (1) favorite high school teacher (2) grandparent 2. Include important personal details a. volunteer work b. participation in varsity sports B. Revise personal statement

Library Research learn how to use the Internet and on-line library catalog to gather reliable sources for a research paper learn to collect necessary information for works cited and reference pages

Source Use learn how to evaluate and analyze the content of source material incorporate quotes and paraphrases into your papers correctly cite source material in APA, CMS and 2009 MLA format styles KEEP UP TO DATE

Revising/Editing add, cut, rearrange sections respond to comments made by your instructor learn to proofread your own work learn to edit your own work for style and grammar errors

Computer Tips get help using the computer to word process your papers help with formatting papers, using headers and footers, etc. Remember our tutors are not trained computer technicians, so if you have any technical questions, please use the main computer lab

How does the Writing Center work? drop in for help during our hours make an appointment by calling us at PNC ext. 5383 be referred by your professor After you arrive at the Writing Center, you will be asked to fill out some paperwork listing your name and major, etc. and what you would like to work on with one of our tutors.
