2  Established in 2002 under the Cooperative Agreement between the Royal Thai Government and UNCTAD, as a result of UNCTAD X meeting in 2000 in Bangkok  The aim is serve as a premier research and capacity building center in the areas of international trade, investment, finance and development  Focus on enhancing South-South cooperation  With the vision to be a center of knowledge base and academic services on trade and development in Asia region 2 Our Background

3 3 Our Missions  To support regional trainings, workshops, seminars and research programs on subjects related to international trade, finance, investment and development  To enhance the potential and capacity of human resources in developing countries, particularly in Asia region, in formulating appropriate economic and development policies  To promote and strengthen economic cooperation and sustainable development among countries in the region based upon the sharing of knowledge and mutual experiences  To become a regional focal point in human resources development and other training activities
