San Antonio Geografía  San Antonio is located In south Texas.  Currently, most of Texas Is experiencing a severe drought.  Recorded average temperature of the past is 68.6*F but to native Texans, it seems much hotter.  Neighboring cities to the west Include Houston and Austin. They have a beautiful river that makes Them on of the most cities to be walked in.

Una breve historia de San Antonio  Originally Native Americans lived in San Antonio, but they were taken over by the Spanish peoples.  The battle of the Alamo began on February 23, and ended on March 6, 1836. The Alamo was in the Texas war for independence. Eventually, Texas was joined into the union causing the Mexican American War, which obviously Americans won. San Antonio is heavily influenced by this past battle.  Now an American city, it’s population grew rapidly and is now the 7 th fastest growing city.

Culture of San Antonio  Fiestas are widely celebrated in San Antonio.  San Antonio celebrates many important Hispanic holidays, including Cinco de Mayo, Mexican Independence day. Some of the parades are River Parade, Battle of the Flowers Parade, Flambeau Parade.  San Antonio is known for its Mexican food, like fajitas, tacos, burritos, and nachos. Tex-mex was also originated here, which we learned about in class.  They follow along with Mexican culture closely, because majority of Hispanic people keep their traditions alive.

Jugar al Futbol!  San Antonio has many soccer related activities like Soccer Association for Youth in San Antonio. This organization supplies camps and leagues for those eager to learn, or the experienced youth.  They also have indoor soccer clubs, like the Aztec Indoor Soccer Club. The Aztec Indoor Soccer club is a branch of the National Indoor Soccer Club, and supplies a sport that you can play indoors instead of in the heat.

Ventajas y desventajas! Advantages  Jugar al futbol can be played indoors or outdoors.  San Antonio provides clubs for more experienced and beginners.  Good for a sister city because they have leagues for our age. Disadvantages  They only have two programs, so it’s very limited to what they can practice.  Adults lack a league to play in.

Should we have a sister club in San Antonio?  As a group, we agree that San Antonio would be the perfect place for us to join a sister-city.  Overall, San Antonio is a good place for us because they offer programs for people our age of Hispanic culture, and they also do it indoors, which Floridians can sympathize with.  Lastly, San Antonio opens us up even more to Mexican-American culture, instead of learning about cultures we already know.
