7 My Ohio Now My Ohio Now  goal was to bring a top- notch casino to Ohio State Issue 6  if passed, would authorize the building of the first casino in the state Proposed casino  to be built be Lakes Entertainment

8 Support Yes on 6 (Lakes Entertainment) - revenue - jobs - Ohioans would stay at home to gamble

9 Opposition No on 6 (sponsored by Penn National Gaming) Vote no Casinos – opposes gambling on economic and moral grounds UNITE Here – concerned about the casino becoming “non-union”

10 Governor Ted Strickland Democratic Governor of Ohio since 2007 - Labeled gambling “an insidious condition that can ruin lives” - “I don’t think it would be accurate to sell this as an answer to Ohio’s economic challenges. … I really don’t envision anything that is likely to change my mind.”

11 Not Successful Why? - 36 million dollars were spent in opposition to State Issue 6 (majority by Penn Nat’l Gaming) - Public sentiment – previous movements for the building of casinos were stricken down (1990, 1996, 2006)
