dissecting “depth” bar gender highlight normal extract transparency box identify zoom view Refer to the “Quick Reference Guide” to review these functions Use of the “transparency box” can greatly facilitate your understanding of the orientation of different structures. Open “Dissectable Anatomy”
2
Open “Atlas Anatomy” Options for studying anatomy most of this class will focus on illustrations under the “Type” option e.g., bones ligaments
3
Atlas Anatomy of bony landmarks for upper arm and shoulder region identify no pins show all pins zoom show one pin identified pin
4
List of available identified pins for a given illustration
5
combination bony landmark and ligament ID illustration

Tips for using ADAM Interactive Anatomy 1) first locate and observe structure 2) understand function of structure 3) associate structure with surrounding structures 4) test yourself for a small number of related structures
7
1) first locate and observe structure a) where can this structure be observed? Dissectible anatomy? Atlas anatomy? b) what is best view? e.g., subscapularis can be seen from an anterior, lateral, and posterior view what is best view? c) how deep will this structure be?
8
2) understand function of structure a) to what functional group does this structure belong? Functional muscle group? Anterior supporting ligaments? More than one functional muscle group? Can you visualize the direction of pull?
9
3) associate structure with surrounding structures a) what identifying landmarks exist near this structure? e.g., coracobrachialis attaches to the coracoid process b) what other muscles can you see when you see this muscle? c) how does the dissection depth alter the view of surrounding structures?
10
4) test yourself for a small number of related structures a) best to quiz each other in small groups b) choose several functional groups c) provide a given picture and have someone identify the visible structures d) provide a given muscle or other structure and have someone else locate a picture of it
