2 The Role of the Sports Physiotherapist Physiotherapy approach Non elite Athlete ? Could argue more reactive in nature. Physiotherapist involved in facilitating the following; Protection of injured tissues Control inflammation Guide and monitor phases of healing Address propriception Rehabilitate,addressing; Flexibility, strength, range of movement and strength Address muscle imbalances Implement prevention strategy (normally exercise based)

Involved in research and audit Intervention mindful and Linked to periodisation Link with S&C increases exponentially as rehabilitation progresses Develop return to play strategies
