4. Serving the Community in 2012 ● Library visits – 214,828 ● Registered borrowers - 5617 ● Programs – 353 programs with total attendance of 12,406 ● Children – Summer Reading Program offered over 30 programs, 685 children in attendance

5. Serving the Community in 2012 ● Circulation – items (books, DVDs, CDs, Books on CD) 77,005 ● Computer-use sessions – 22,359 ● Reference questions answered – 21,000

6. Proposed 2014 Library Budget ● Total proposed operating budget for 2014 - $570,755 (please note this does NOT include any capital expenses for the Annex) ● Includes $527,874 in local taxes (balance from gifts & grants) ● Represents a 5.02% increase in Library tax from 2013 ● Corresponds to an annual increase of under $5.00 for a home assessed at $250,000, about 40₵ per month

7. Why increase the Library budget now? ● For the past two years the Library budget increase has been within the 2% tax cap ● For the proposed 2014 budget most of the 5.02% library tax increase is due to the unfunded mandate of New York State retirement contribution ●The rest of the increase is for materials, programs and to enable us to increase our communication with the town

8. What will happen if the modest budget increase does not pass? ● Acquisitions budget will be reduced by over 25% ● Less programming for children (for example, poetry craft, and theater workshops will have to be eliminated) ● All system holds will incur a delivery fee

9. Library Budget Vote & Trustee Election Thursday, September 5, 2013 12 noon to 9 pm At the Library (absentee ballots are available at the Library on August 16th) There are 2 seats available on the Board of Trustees The candidates are: Elaine Hammond Kathleen Lee
