SEARCHING THE ON-LINE CATALOGUE Searching by Keyword

1) Click Search in the menu and choose Keyword

2) In the dialogue box Keyword Search, type keywords. Keyword means a word contained in catalogue record (in fields: title, place of publication, publisher, subject, etc.). In this kind of search, words from the author field (name of author) are not included. NOTE: Boolean operators enable you to combine terms. The operator AND helps you choose documents containing both search terms; OR brings up documents containing any of the search terms; NOT allows you to find documents containing the first search term but not the second

3) Choose a combination of keywords and click twice e.g. here

NOTE 2: In our example the computer found books from the publisher „Secesja”, connected with art, together with books about Secession art 4) Find the desired title on the title list NOTE 1: Go to the next/previous screen using blue arrows

5) Choose the desired title and click twice e.g. here

N6757.5 A78 B36 1997 NOTE: You can also save search results on diskette, send them by e-mail, or print them 8) With the call number go to the proper subject area and subdivision. You can find your subject area on the map located on each level and the subdivision on subject area map

Final remarks NOTE 2: Not all books and serials have records in the on-line catalogue. To find them, you should also search the card catalogues NOTE 3: There are no call numbers (Library of Congress Classification) in card catalogues. Therefore you should always start searching from the on-line catalogue NOTE 1: You do not need a requisition form to borrow a book from open stacks. If you can borrow the book go directly to the Circulation Desk
