Rowdy Readers As the trimester comes to an end the kids and I are in the process of fine tuning some reading skills so that they are able to show me everything that they know. We worked hard this week in our new FOOD unit as we discussed the tools an author and illustrator would use, where they do their work in a book and their overall roles. We also continued our work on know characters, settings and events in books as well as all of the physical parts of a book. Finally, we worked on the initial and ending /n/ sound. Some of the stories that helped us out this week include: Apple Farmer Annie There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly Pizza Please How Rocket Learned to Read The Goat in the Chili Patch Pumpkin Town We also added a new word wall word to our collection. We are now up to seven. Our new word for the week was “to”. Our new vocabulary words for the week that will improve oral speaking skills were: ingredients, nutritious, combine, market and farmer. Math Madness ATTRIBUTES: This week the class worked hard sorting, counting and coming up with different attributes with simple objects.
