2. Japan has two different flags, the main one being the one behind theses words. The other was mainly used during World War 2.

3.  The absolute location of Tokyo, the capital city of Japan, is 36° N, 1407° E Japan is 377,944 km squared

4. Geography Japan is mainly made up of city but also contains grasslands, mountains and volcanoes, and ice lands. Japan is located across from North and South Korea along with China The next slide will show the elevation map of Japan along with the climograph.

Some man made features of japan include the Tokyo Imperial Palace, Tokyo Tower, Todaiji Temple, Great Buddha of Kamakura, and the Golden Pavilion which will be explained in the next slide.

7. The Golden Pavilion Was originally built as a retirement villa for Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu Built in the 14 th century Was burned down in 1950 and rebuilt 5 years later. Gardens were added to emphasize peace and balance.

Political Science/Sociology Japan has a democratic parliamentary government system The of their democratic parliamentary government is to increase the peoples awareness of how its government rules. In Japan school is free until high school in which tuition is ¥300,000 which is about $3200 in Canadian currency

12. Medical – the cost for medical is is 30% to the patient, while the government pays the other 70% of it. Ideology/philosophy – Citizens of Japan who have lived there for 3 years or longer who are at least twenty years old can vote in Japan

13. Police Force of Japan There are about 280,500 police officers in Japan who are commanded my the National Police Agency. There is about one officer per 450 citizens (about the same ratio as the U.K.).

Economics Natural Resources – Japan mainly exports valuable minerals that are used in the proses of making electric cars, iPods, strong raw magnets, batteries, LED lights, lasers, wind turbines and missiles Trade Partners – Japan’s main trade partner is China Currency – Japan’s currency is Yen (¥) and has been since 1931 Taxation – In Japan, Taxes are paid on income, property and consumption
