Solving Exponential Equations Get your bases alike on each side of the equation If the variable is in the exponent set the exponents equal to each other and solve for x If the variable is the base, raise each side of the equation to the reciprocal power of the exponent on the variable

Logarithmic Equations If you have more than one logarithm on each side of the equation, then simplify each side down to one logarithm. If both sides of the equation has a logarithm then cancel the logarithms and solve for x.

Logarithmic Equations If only one side of the equation has a logarithm, then put the equation in exponential form. Solve for x: If x is in the exponent, then get like bases. If x is the base, then raise each side of the equation to the reciprocal power of the exponent on the base

Logarithmic Equations If x is in what the exponential form equals, then solve the equation.

Exponential Equations (Calculator) Remember the log button on the calculator is base 10. Get the base to a power on one side of the equation Take the log (common log = base 10) of both sides of the equation Pull the exponent in front of the log Solve for x
