2 Solving Exponential Equations Get your bases alike on each side of the equation If the variable is in the exponent set the exponents equal to each other and solve for x If the variable is the base, raise each side of the equation to the reciprocal power of the exponent on the variable

3 Logarithmic Equations If you have more than one logarithm on each side of the equation, then simplify each side down to one logarithm. If both sides of the equation has a logarithm then cancel the logarithms and solve for x.

4 Logarithmic Equations If only one side of the equation has a logarithm, then put the equation in exponential form. Solve for x: If x is in the exponent, then get like bases. If x is the base, then raise each side of the equation to the reciprocal power of the exponent on the base

5 Logarithmic Equations If x is in what the exponential form equals, then solve the equation.

6 Exponential Equations (Calculator) Remember the log button on the calculator is base 10. Get the base to a power on one side of the equation Take the log (common log = base 10) of both sides of the equation Pull the exponent in front of the log Solve for x
