18
The next day, while Oswald is being moved, Ruby shoots him.
Ruby received international attention when he shot and fatally wounded the 24-year-old Oswald on Sunday, November 24, 1963, at 11:21 am CST while authorities were preparing to transfer Oswald by car from police headquarters to the nearby county jail. Stepping out from a crowd of reporters and photographers, Ruby fired a snub-nosed Colt Cobra .38 into Oswald's abdomen.[13] When Ruby was arrested immediately after the shooting, he told several witnesses that his killing of Oswald would show the world that "Jews have guts," that he helped the city of Dallas "redeem" itself in the eyes of the public, and that Oswald's death would spare Jacqueline Kennedy the ordeal of appearing at Oswald's trial.[14] Ruby stated that he shot Oswald to avenge Kennedy. Later, however, he claimed he shot Oswald on the spur of the moment when the opportunity presented itself, without considering any reason for doing so.[ He was convicted on March 14, 1964 for the murder of Lee Harvey Oswald on November 24, 1963, two days after Oswald was arrested for the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. He successfully appealed his conviction and sentence of death. As a date for his new trial was being set,[1] he became ill and died. Ruby's lawyers argued that he could not have received a fair trial in the city of Dallas because of the excessive publicity surrounding the case. A year after his conviction, in March 1965, Ruby conducted a brief televised news conference in which he stated: "Everything pertaining to what's happening has never come to the surface. The world will never know the true facts of what occurred, my motives. The people who had so much to gain, and had such an ulterior motive for putting me in the position I'm in, will never let the true facts come above board to the world." When asked by a reporter: "Are these people in very high positions Jack?" he responded "Yes."[18] Arrangements were underway for a new trial to be held in February 1967, in Wichita Falls, Texas, when, on December 9, 1966, Ruby was admitted to Parkland Hospital in Dallas, suffering from pneumonia. A day later, doctors realized he had cancer in his liver, lungs, and brain. Ruby made a final statement from his hospital bed on December 19 that he and he alone had been responsible for the murder of Lee Harvey Oswald.[23] "There is nothing to hide," Ruby said. "There was no one else."[24] He died of a pulmonary embolism, secondary to bronchiolar lung cancer, on January 3, 1967 at Parkland Hospital, where Lee Harvey Oswald had died and President Kennedy had been pronounced dead after his assassination.

The Mystery lived on…..was it Oswald….or a conspiracy?!!!!

SHOT #2 – 1st hit EXIT ? OR ENTRY?
22
SINGLE BULLET THEORY Warren Commission set up to investigate – so named because? Concludes single bullet entered the upper right side of JFK’s back & emerged from his throat. Conspiracy theorists say this would require that the bullet, just after leaving the President’s throat & grazing the left side of the knot of his tie, made an acute angular turn to the right in midair & then entered the far right side of Gov. Connally, seated in front of JFK. Conspiracy theorists also argue that the bullet was planted on JFK’s stretcher…..it was too pristine to have done all the damage it did.

“Magic Bullet” Theory
25
“Single Bullet” - Warren Commission
Mark Fuhrman (LAPD) Theory – the 1st shot did NOT miss and hit JFK (from behind), the 2nd shot hit Gov. Connally, and 3rd shot was kill shot. But does also say that magic bullet could have happened. Click on photos for link to video on Single Bullet simulation.

Possible Conspirators
1. CIA Cuba - still wanted to take out Castro & rid western hemisphere of Soviet influence Shake-up of CIA by JFK & RFK “Secret service” on grassy knoll Accusations of working with LBJ also Also, alleged affair by JFK with wife of one of CIA agents BUT they were divorced by this time.
27
2) Organized Crime (Mafia)
Shared the same mistress, Judith Campbell Exner, as Chicago mob boss Sam Giancana. Investigations by RFK Oswald & Ruby connections Wanted Vietnam war Wanted Cuba back NO EVIDENCE EVER DISCOVERED
28
3) The Soviets & Fidel Castro
29
4. Military-Industrial Complex Ike’s Farewell Address Warned About the Link Between Industry and War
Eisenhower, days from being replaced by John F. Kennedy, tapped a sense of anxiety in his farewell address of Jan. 17, 1961, noting the nation now had "a permanent armaments industry" and warning not to let it threaten democratic liberty. Military - wanted Vietnam Industry – war goods; angered over trade embargo w/Cuba Oil Barons - angered over high taxes
30
_ ______ 5. LBJ Apparently, JFK was planning to drop LBJ from the ticket in 1964 – based on his involvement in several scandals (connections with various criminals (murderers), alleged illegitimate son…). LBJ made this statement the night before JFK’s assassination. Also later said that the oil people and the CIA were involved in the plan. LBJ had also gotten upset about a seating change in the motorcade which put his friend, Gov. John Connally, instead of his enemy – Sen. Ralph Yarborough – in the car with JFK. He had also been implicated by Jack Ruby – but not much validity given to that.
31
JFK praised most for his ideals, not his achievements –
vigor, charisma & idealism made him an inspiration to the 1960’s generation.
