Definition of World View Deep underlying mostly unconscious core concepts that influence all of life. Conscious Unconscious Behavior Beliefs and values World View

World View Levels 1. top level is behavior—the largest segment 2. middle level is Beliefs and values—Behavior is based on these 2 elements—some of these beliefs are conscious and some are unconscious 3. World view is mostly unconscious and gives rise to all above it on the chart. Comes mostly from culture and contains fewest elements of the 3 levels

Five possible world views 1. Atheist/Agnostic—bottom level 2. Deist—top and bottom level 3. Mechanical/Magical—right side 4. Medieval—top and middle level 5. Christian Theist—all of chart in balance

Problem Worldviews 1. In Global North (Europe, North America, Australia etc.) biggest problem is atheism and especially deism 2. In global south and some conservatives and among New Age and Eastern religions it is the magical World View 3. For some conservatives and Pentecostals it is the Medieval World View

Changing World View For Unbelievers 1. Provide new experiments and experiences 2. Look at history and provide new explanations 3. Remember the process involves the whole person 4. Pray for God’s action

Changing World View II For Believers 1. Study topic of world view and give understanding 2. Give Bible evidence 3. Obey—act like God is at work and expect Him to act 4. Remember this change is a process—sometimes long

Conclusion This has wide implications for many areas: 1. Spiritual life 2. Theology and how God works 3. Ministry—leadership, methods etc. 4. Evangelism, mission and teaching
