2. PRIMARY SOURCES VS. SECONDARY SOURCES What’s the difference? Think of a definition and example of both Primary source is… a document or physical object which was written or created during the time under study. Secondary source is… A source that interprets and analyzes primary sources. These sources are one or more steps removed from the event. Secondary sources may have pictures, quotes or graphics of primary sources in them.

4. CLAIM TEST TYPE #1: AUTHORITY You should believe me because….I’m an expert!

5. CLAIM TEST #2: INTUITION I have a “gut reaction” about that. It isn’t magical though; it is formed out of past experiences and knowledge!

6. CLAIM TEST #3: EVIDENCE I am going to use tools, equations, measurements, data, direct observations, reports…
